Dancing with the Stars Blog: Dancing with Jesse Week 1

Dancing With Jesse Banner 2

And so it begins!!!! A new season of Dancing with the stars in under way now. Who is Excited???? I know I am. I’ll be coming to you every week with my new DWTS blog, giving recaps and my opinion on the night. I also want to hear your opinion! So please leave comments on what you liked or didn’t like about the night every week. This is going to be a great season. Who are you rooting for?!

-Jesse V.

This season is promised to be very interesting and the premiere did not disappoint. First out of the gate was Country Singer/American Idol alum Kellie Pickler and her partner Derek Hough. Now you all know my “Derek Hough Theory”* and last night proved it. But to put the focus on Kellie, I thought she danced brilliantly for the first week Cha Cha. She is definitely going to be one to watch.

Second of the night was my pick Champion Boxer Victor Ortiz and new pro Lindsay with the Foxtrot. For sure there is potential there, all he has to do is smooth out his movements.

As the night went on it was announced that two new styles were being added to the competition one of which being contemporary. Three couples danced this style last night, Disney star Zendaya with Val, Gold medalist Dorothy with Tristan, and Soap star Ingo with Kym. Honestly, I don’t know how I feel about these additions. To me this has always been a ballroom competition, but the stars did indeed dance the style beautifully, So much so that they took the top two spots on the leader board. What do you think? Do you like the additions??

One of the biggest surprises of the night was the star who took last place, DL Hugely and partner Cheryl Burke with their Cha Cha. For some reason I honestly thought he would be better than he was, he just stood there for most of it. He really has to redeem himself next week, if he wants to stay. Next week he will be dancing the quickstep. OH BOY!! Good luck to him!! But if the past seasons have taught us anything, it’s to never assume. I always refer back to Rob Kardashian, who everyone said wouldn’t go past week 2, but yet improved to make 2nd place. We will see if Cheryl can work here magic with DL, like she did with Rob.

Over all, the night, in my opinion, was a big success. Country legends took us to church, housewives glided across the floor, and super bowl champs got us up and dancing along. This week no one was eliminated, so all the stars will be back next week for a 2nd chance to impress America with the Jive or Quickstep. Who’s fast footwork will take them all the way??? Thank you everyone for reading my first blog, please give your opinion and let’s have fun this season!!!!!!!

* “Derek Hough Theory” :

Ok ‘yall!!! So here is my theory on DWTS and Derek Hough. The producers are smart, they know that the pros are just as loved (if not more than) the stars. Derek Hough being the most popular. Every year Derek gets an extremely talented partner. WHY?? Because the producers want to keep him around as long as possible. The shows core demographic love Derek Hough.  Pros like Tony Dovolani and Tristan MacManus always get the short end of the stick. Now don’t get me wrong!!! I think Derek Hough is extremely talented and an amazing dancer, it’s the show that I have the problem with.  That’s my theory. What do you think???  You know me and my wacko theories LOL. What’s your opinion???
