Dancing with the Stars Blog: Dancing with Jesse Week 5

Dancing With Jesse Banner 2

This week was a very, very interesting week on DWTS. We saw the first 10s of the season plus Head Judge Len Goodman presented all of our stars with a challenge. Len’s “Side by Side challenge!!!” Each couple will have to dance along side a professional couple for 15 sec in the middle of the dance. The pro couple will start the dance, then they will dance side by side, and finally the stars finish the dance. At first I was skeptical about how it would all play out, but after seeing all the dances I have to say I was MAJORLY impressed. Having a pro couple on the dance floor forced all the celebs to step up their game, which I think was the goal with this challenge. Overall I was very happy with this week. I think this should be a new challenge implemented into future seasons. What did you think of the challenge? Did you agree with Len?

The first couple to take on the challenge was Soap Opera actor Ingo & partner Kym who danced a Cha Cha along side pros Tony Dovolani and Emma Slator. This was our chance to see how the challenge actually worked, over all it was a great success. However my opinion on Ingo is that he is just OK. Not great, but not bad either. He’s just coasting through. We’ll see how much longer he’ll last.

I will say however that Bachelor star Sean & Peta really stepped it up with his Quickstep. I know I’ve been giving him a lot of heck in the past weeks, but I applaud improvement. He danced with professional couple Tristan McManus and Chelsie Hightower by his side. In the rehearsal footage we saw Sean took the “side by side” part a little too literal LOL. But you know what it paid off. I thought it was his best dance of the season. Hopefully he will continue to improve. I predict good things.

Monday night saw the first 10’s of the season!!!! By none other than the amazingly talented Zendaya and partner Val, who danced a mesmerizing Argentine Tango. They were joined by Val’s older brother, pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy and pro Anna Trebunskaya. Val admitted he didn’t do a lot of Argentine Tango in his life, but you would have never known from what we saw. Well deserved and rewarded with the top spot. What did you think of the top spot taker???

This week was, however, not so good for the comedians of the show. Both D.L. Hughley and Andy Dick ended with 18’s at the bottom of the leader board. D.L. & Cheryl danced a Tango, while Andy & Shauna danced a “very interesting” Paso Doble. I think Andy Dick zip lining from one side of the stage to the other will go down in Dancing with the Stars history! You know that last week I did become a fan of Andy Dick. That being said, while his Paso wasn’t the best dance of the evening I still think it was very good. He had the intensity and the fire. Improvement is there, we’ll see what the future has for him. Last week D.L. Hugley had a breakthrough, but for me he took it back a step or two. His tango to me was very stiff, like he was thinking about it too much.

Overall the night was sooo much fun. We got to see the stars really step it up this week so as not to be outshined by the pros surrounding them. Everyone performed admirably. Again I hope this becomes a regular thing each season.

Elimination Night

It was revealed that the bottom two was D.L. & Cheryl (shocker (sarcasm)) and my main man Victor Ortiz & Lindsay who had performed an OK Viennese Waltz. In the end, the time finally had come for Comedian D.L. Hughley and Cheryl Burke. No one can say he didn’t give it his all, but we all knew it was going to happen. What did you think of his elimination?? Hopefully Victor will step it up next week, this was his second time in the bottom 2, can he avoid a third??
